Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

Apologies for the late post! I was finishing this as Dave was writing the new challenge. :$

So here she is resting on top of a sugar plum. Tired from doing whatever she does (dancing and prancing with the Nutcracker, dodging hungry owls, who knows?!). Hopefully I will actually finish this illustration with colour one day. But for now, colorization + simple highlights will do. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

'Tis the manly sugar plum fairies. Marvel at their graceful dance while you can, because they only dance for you once a year. ;)

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

Sugar Plum Fairy, sovereign of sweets

Cute and sweet was the goal for this entry. I tried to stick with limited colours that could remind people of cotton candy or pulled taffy.

Snowflake vectors from Vecteezy :)

Happy holidays everyone!

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

I always picture Jack Frost as a bitter, sadistic ice man.

Why else would winter be so bitterly cold?

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

I really wanted to do something ballet-like but I really haven't been able to make a lot of time to draw something finished as I'm on a job that has nutso hours and doesn't really let me draw during the day. Anywho, I did the sketch above the other week when things were still a bit slow, but I haven't had a chance to take it into the final stages yet. I'm going to see what I can do about that though!
This was the very first idea that I had for this topic, which did not end up turning out as cool as I thought it would. I've had it sitting in draft mode for a while now, but I figured I'd post it along with my more thought out Sugar Plum Fairy. Here's a little story I came up with for this guy:

The Zombie Moth (also commonly known as the Galaxy Moth) has been nicknamed 'The Sugar Plum Fairy' for it's nearly insatable desire for the sweet innards of plums. The distinctive pattern on the Sugar Plum Fairy's wings help it to ward off would-be predators while it feasts on plums.

Hope ya like 'em!

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

I'M ON MY WAY!!

Wuddap jack! I couldn't resist but to give him... well... some Spirit lol I had way too much fun with this piece. I wanted to desaturated most of his colors except the scarf. It just punches it out for me. Anyway I hope you all have a great holiday season! And take care of each other! Peace and Luv!

ps. DAVE u have to check this program, you will luv this i'm sure. http://al.chemy.org/
It is one of the most interesting brainstorming program i have ever come accross!
All the tutorials are there to show u how to use it. And the program is free for any operating system. Andrew Jones i think help create this program and it is absolutely messed up (in a cool twisted artsy way) lol.

Challenge 4: Jack Frost/Sugar Plum Fairy

Hail Members of the League of Creation!

Let's get right to it! The next topic challenge is: Jack Frost/The Sugar Plum Fairy!

You can do either or, or if you're really in the Christmas spirit, why not do both?! The choice is yours! Let your imagination run amok! It's great that this topic came up when it did because Christmas is almost right smack in the middle of it!

This challenge will end on Monday, December 29th.

Happy Holidays again!

P.S. All the posts for the last topic were stellar! Way to go Leaguers! One more thing; when posting, please make sure that you only have the current challenge topic title in your label when posting. It helps to keep everything organized! League HQ is working on improvements to the way that posts are organized, so keep an eye out for that! Oh! and don't hesitate to send suggestions to topicsofcreation@gmail.com
