Challenge 3: Sea Creature

Here's some studies for this challenge. The first one above is from a photo reference; the second one is from my very own noggin'; and the third are ideations, some from reference and some not. Final image coming soon!

Update: So there's my final dude. I was completely influenced by Ian Macaig's Gnomon Visual Storytelling DVDs. I'm going to keep working on this one because I didn't really feel like I actually got into it and I really want to improve my digital painting skills, but at least it's up here :D Please please please critique the heck out of this piece by the way! Thanks!

Wow, a 3-in-1 entry! Very cool stuff! I really like the second, punky fish as well :)

The first creature from reference is so cute! Do you know if he's the little cave-dweller that was featured in Planet Earth?

I love the thumbnail sketches! Very cool silhouettes! I especially like the shrimp-like creature with the millions of legs.

Can't wait to see the your final one posted up! I know that even the sketch looks kick ass! But it's because I've been hogging your computer to finish my post. Sorry!
